… just heard this whilst sitting in my cube and had to report. Ah, out of the mouths of babes:

Executive:

His employee in cube next door: Gzeundheit

Executive: Thank you

Assistant in other neighboring cube: What does “gzeun,..” mean

Employee: The same thing as “Bless you” — we say it when someone sneezes…

Exec: Do you notice that no one says “God bless you” in Asia when you sneeze?

Assistant: Yes we do!! Well, we say “Bless you,” we don’t say the God part

Employee: Do you know the history of that? It’s from the plague. When someone sneezed, it meant they might have caught the sickness … people were hoping you didn’t die.

Assistant: Ah, that makes sense. , maybe that’s why no one says it to you!

I’ve heard a lot of interesting things in while in Singapore and I keep meaning to write them down to share… I’ll try to do better. In the meantime, here are some of the recent goodies:

Apparently, this was an honest pick-up line attempt: “I’d like to squeeze your anatomy”
”… until the cats come home”
“The jam was all over the island” … Traffic jam that is.
And the best was heard by dad today while walking by a table.
- Man says to woman, “And do you wear clothes when you do that?!”
- Woman, “Of course not!”

Heh, must keep my ears open more and my fingers active!
