On second note .. we had a debate-watching-event tonight. And a quick survey of the Columbia University lady students in attendance revealed interesting trends:
1. As a woman, they are insulted Palin is on the ticket (really, if they want “a woman on the ticket” we can do better;
2. It had the reverse effect – instead of the issues being about a woman breaking through the glass ceiling (thank you VERY much, Hillary), it became a question of competence .. something Palin did not espouse or reinforce. So … if *anything* good comes of her running, let it be that the *best* person for the job should be selected, regardless of sex, based instead on competence.
It’s a sad day in the USA when expectations need to be dumbed down to accomodate the intellectual levels and/or incompetence levels of any candidate for Vice President…be it woman or man! If I wanted to choose a “Joe -6-pack” or a “hockey Mom” to help run the country, I’d probably be in another country and not in my country: America!
Imagine not respecting and/or putting value in intelligence and experience!!!??? I find that an insult to all educated, hard-working American people.
I was surprised and very disappointed that there were no follow up questions by Gwen I. (moderator) to secure and have Palin provide answers for the many questions asked. Palin either resufed, didn’t know the facts, didn’t have a clue or understand the question/s, or couldn’t find appropriate responses quickly enough on her cheat sheet to respond…so she just continued her blabber of incidental sound bites….and then is rewarded by that on network soundbites!!! I don’t accept that from any candidate in either party. It’s a travesty.
We remain in a crisis in our country and, to sink to this level of acceptance from Mc Cains choice, is an abomination and a misjustice to each of us.
I know, right? Your Mom pretty much sums it up for me as well.
The McCain/Palin campaign daily becomes more and more like that little wind-up car you have as a kid – where one or two wheels are different from the others and it runs all wonky and erratically until it just breaks from its own insanity and deviant non-equilibrium.
It’s easy to take shots at Palin for a number a reasons, but she simply is not up to the job. Let her go back to waving at Putin when he puts his head in her airspace. I mean, McCain has like seconds left to live – we simply can not have this person as the leader of the free world.
