Home and away!

23 01 2008

Well, we didn’t get as many blog updates in as we wanted to … but then again, we didn’t get as much sight-seeing in as we wanted to either.

As luck would have it, the day after our fantastic brunch (yes, that would be Monday), mom woke up with a shooting pain down her leg — we think pressure on a nerve. Anyway, she was laid out until Wednesday night, when they left! :-(

On Monday night, Dad and I went across the street to a very nice restaurant for some Vietnamese food. It was lovely, and we brought mom back her requested tuna sandwich. All was good until Tuesday morning, when both pops & I came down with … you guessed, food poisoning. Dad & I were recovered enough by Wednesday, but just hung low with mom who still isn’t back on track.

Oh no! Oh yes. The ‘rents were here for 7 days, 3 of which were spent sight-seeing the inside of my apartment building.  They left yesterday night bound for the US — mom hoping to see a doctor soon. (Their insurance doesn’t cover them overseas unless there is “loss of life or limb!!!!!” .. seriously.)

So … think positive thoughts. I know when mom comes back online, she’ll have something lovely to say about their great time here.

Now, I’m looking forward to Conrad’s visit, early in February.

That’s all for now … still smiling in sunny Singapore!

So sorry about the bad turn of events. Boy, if Carolyn has a pinched nerve, or slipped disc, etc., the long plane trip could have been MISERABLE! We pray not.
At least they got to see you and some of your environment. I’m sure that was well worth the trip to them.

awww. I’ll bet it was nice to at least be sick with your parents. The worst is being all crap sick like that … by yourself. Poor mommers. They have my parents’ disease. I swear to god every time those two save their duckets and spend them on a vacation they either get injured or the location has record weather of some sort, usually rain. I’m pulling for your mommy and hoping she gets medicated on beverages for that plane ride home.

and BOOOOOOO to the american health insurance plans. I ACHE every time I think about it.

OK Guys!!! Plane ride was not as bad as anticipated…we even got and extra stop/layover in Ft. Lauderdale for no extra charge on the ride home!!!…Miami was fogged in and plane couldn’t land…
What did I learn from this adventure? Buy extra health insurance when going out of the country…hobbling is not very sexy… and wheelchairs are wonderful when you can’t walk!!! BUT most of all, wear hiking boots when out with Becky for a “stroll”!!!

I see the doctor tomorow at 9 AM…we’ll see what he has to say about my leg…

ADVICE from the Mom: Save your $$$ and do visit Singapore. It’s a beautiful country…so advanced, so comfortable, so easy to get around, so much to see and do…The smells of steaming food is so aromatic…the look of these same foods are so “different”…the taste…well, that’s why you have to go! And the poeple…!!!

More to follow…xoxoxo So glad we went…even though we spent most of our time inside Becky’s apartment (of course, we had the bedroom…she had the air mattress) It’s still nice nice to pull rank.
