After asking dad if he was excited to see Singapore .. and getting a resounding, “no.” I’m delighted to report that he is having a grand ol time.
Better than that, the man who doesn’t like spicy food did some damage to some Chili Crab tonight. Maybe it’s because I fed him amazing mussels with all you can eat french fries at the famed Brussels Sprouts restaurant the night before. Or maybe it’s because we started the meal with a snack of “fried sweet baby squids” and “beansprouts with dried fish” — come on, doesn’t it sound yummy?
Well, surprisingly, it is.
AND .. really to top it all off, the ‘rents were challenged with a Christmas present of chopsticks and a coupon for a week where they may only use said chopsticks to dine with *before* coming to Singapore. They did it! And now they are pros with the chopsticks. I can take these kids anywhere. Dad was proud to say that on day 1, he attempted and won over WET NOODLES!
Ah, to know that such exciting firsts are still available to you in your 60′s … got to love that life is so varied and crazy that you can still have new experiences and surprises after all that time.
Tomorrow we’re off to see the famous Raffles hotel (and its Singapore slings) … here’s to hoping for nice weather!

Wonderful! Keep up with the new experiences. It sounds like you are having a great time, and we continue to pray daily that it keeps up! Becky, maybe you aren’t so homesick now. We talked with Conrad last night, and he is all set for his “new experiences”, too.
